The
aims
of this
research
are
to find
out
whether
category
of
number,
person
and
voice
cause
problems
in
translating
English
texts
into
Indonesia
language
and
which
category
that
mostly
made
by
students
in translating
English
texts into
Indonesia language.
Grammatical
equivalence
is
equivalence
which
concerns
with
the
way
in
which
units
such
as words
and
phrases
can
be combined
in a language.
The
researcher
used
qualitative
approach.
Moreover,
the
researcher
used
written
tests
to 43 subjects
of
this
research.
The
researcher
finds
in
translating
category
of
number,
many
translators
are
doing
omission
or
addition.
This
can
cause
the
messages
from
source
language
changes
when
it
comes
to
the
target
language
or
make
the
sentences
become
unacceptable
in
target
language.
On
the
other
hand,
the
different
way
in
presenting
category
of person
between
English
and
Indonesia
language
can
cause
ambiguity.
The
last,
many
translators
chose
wrong
affixes
in
Indonesia
language.
From
the
research,
the
researcher
also
finds
out
that
the
category
that
mostly
made
by English departments students batch
2014 is number
(55%).
The
researcher
suggests
that
to
avoid
problems
in category
of
number,
translator
can
omit
the
information
or
even
add
other
information.
In
category
of
person,
the
translator
can
add
other
information
next
to the
third
singular
person
in
target
language
or finding
the
word
which
specifically
describes
the
gender
of
the
subject
or object
in
the
target
language.
In
category
of voice,
the
translator
needs
to understand the
context of the
sentence
then find the
right affixes.
