Teacher of SMAN 8 Banjarmasin applies Imagination, Elaboration, Prediction, and Confirmation (IEPC) in teaching reading. IEPC strategy is a strategy for developing students reading comprehension by using visual imagery for building construction in line.This research aims to find out the implementation of IEPC strategy in teaching reading at X grade students of SMAN 8 Banjarmasin in the academic year 2018/2019. This research uses descriptive method and qualitative approach. The sample is the English teacher of X grade students at SMAN 8 Banjarmasin.

From the results found in observation sheet, IEPC strategy was implemented in pre activity, and while activity. It was supported by the result in observation sheet which all activities in the IEPC strategy are carried out by the teacher. IEPC strategy effects students respond in reading activity and teacher’s ability in making questions related to the context.

Finally, Imagination, prediction, elaboration, and confirmation (IEPC) strategy can be used by the teacher to teach and motivate students in teaching reading English.
