This thesis is aimed to describe what are the writing problems in writingdescriptive
text from made by Eight Grade Students in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. This research
uses descriptive qualitative approach. The populations in this research are 50 students and
total samples are 25 students who are taken by using total sampling. In collecting the data,
the researcher uses subjective test in form of writing test. This research usespretest at the
pretest class to ensure the reliability of the instrument. The validity of the test used in this
research is content validity with the help of teacher at that school. From the research result,
the data show that the most frequent is grammar, vocabulary and generic structure. The total
sample which is 100% of students get fair score in grammar, 68% students get poor score in
vocabulary and 44% students get poor score in generic structure. Based on the result, it is
suggested for the students to study hard especially in grammar, vocabulary and generic
structure, to give full attention to theteacher explanation in teaching and learning activity, and
they need more practice in writing descriptive text intensively
.
