This research was aimed to find out whether there was a difference on students’ speaking achievement of procedure text between those who were taught by using snowball throwing technique and those who were taught by using talking stick in the eleventh grade students of SMKN 1 Banjarmasin 2019/2020.

This research used quantitative approach with quasi experimental design which consisted of experimental and control classes. The samples were two classes with 68 students in total who was taken by using cluster random sampling.

The finding showed that there was a difference achievement in both classes. It can be seen from the calculation of t-test result (8.92) which was higher than the t-table (1.99). In addition, the average score of post-test in the experimental class was 82.11 while the control class was 73.17.

Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Based on the result above, it is suggested for the English teacher to use snowball throwing as the alternative technique in teaching speaking because it encouraged the students to be active in participating the teaching and learning process better than talking stick technique.
