The importance of an analysis of financial distress in a metal industry company is based on the consideration that the pressures or financial problems that occur in a company have a direct or indirect impact on the company's operations, so these conditions need to be addressed by company management. The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical evidence regarding the condition of financial distress in metal industry sector companies and the like which were listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018.

This research is a descriptive study conducted to determine the value of an independent variable, either one or more independent variables without making comparisons or connecting with other variables. The method used to measure financial distress is to use the Altman Z-Score method

Research Results obtained According to the Z-score method in general, financial distress conditions in metal industry sector companies and the like which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018 occurred in 8 (eight) companies (80%) of the total sample of companies that were categorized as financial distress, while each of the 1 companies (10%) is included in the category of Warning and non-financial distress
