The objectives of this research were to figure out the approach, method, techniques and strategies are used by the eleventh grade teachers to teach reading and to study the implementation of approaches, methods, techniques and strategies used in teaching reading for the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Banjarmasin. The subject of this research was one English teacher of SMAN 1 Banjarmasin. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative. The data were collected from observation and interview. The researcher analyze the data by comparing the data from the observation with the available theory.

The result of this research showed that in teaching reading comprehension, the teacher uses EFL Teaching Methodology. The teacher used scientific approach in teaching reading. The method was Community Language Learning. The techniques mostly used by the teacher were question – answer relationship and question generation. The strategy mostly used by the teacher was group investigation.

In conclusion, the teacher used a certain numbers of approach, method, strategies, and techniques in order to maximize the process of teaching reading in the classroom. It is the suggestion for the teacher to use any variety of techniques and strategies during the learning in the classroom. For the readers, it can be additional reference to explore more about EFL Teaching Methodology.
