Technique of teaching speaking is a best part of teaching and learning process in speaking class. There are many techniques can be used in teaching English at formal school or informal school. This research intended to find out the techniques and the implementation of the techniques in teaching speaking in intermediate class at English Transmigration Village.

The research used descriptive method and qualitative approach. Two tutors in the intermediate class were taken as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation and interview. In analysing the data, the researcher did three steps; data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.The data proved reliable since the researcher used two different instruments or referred as Triangulation. The research findings showed that there were five techniques that tutors used and the implementation of those techniques.

 In conclusion, the result of the study indicated that, there were five techniques in teaching speaking that tutors used in intermediate class at English Transmigration Village. The techniques were; drill, group discussion, monologue, communication games with flashcard as the media, question and answer. Those techniques were helped the tutors to teach the students and control the situation in the class. The reseacher recommends that the teacher should be used various techniques of teaching speaking while teaching English in the classroom.
