SYNTHESIS OF CdS SEMICONDUCTOR NANOPARTICLES USING BRIM STONE (By Habibah; Supervisor: Dr. Suryajaya M.Sc,Tech.; Sadang Husain, S.Si.,M.Sc.; 2020; 35 pages)

 

In this research, the material used is brim stone produced by mountains as a source of element S (Sulfur) in the manufacture of CdS semiconductor nanoparticle synthesis (Cadmium Sulphide). As preliminary trials, characterization of (S) sulfur content in brim stones using SEM-EDX was conducted. The average percentage of content of (S) Sulfur in brim stones is Wt% 63.0825 and At% 73.1175. The method used in synthesizing CdS is immersion and gasification which is a modification of the gas exposure system from the Langmuir Blodgett method. The synthesized samples were characterized using UV-Vis and FTIR spectrophotometer instruments. After UV-Vis characterization, the wavelength value of CdS is at a shift of 390-410 nm. Then from that wavelength we can calculate the value of the nanoparticle radius using the energy gap equation. The size of the smallest radius is 1,721 nm.
