Interference appears as a result of bilingualism. Interferences are varied according to their level, and one of them is in grammatical level. This interference occurs in productive skill like writing. It happens because of differences between language systems in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

The research used descriptive qualitative method. It was aimed to describe the types of Indonesian grammatical Interference into English usage in writing and factors caused the interference. There were 20 students participated as the samples of this research. The researcher used document of students' writing and questionnaire as the instruments of the research.

The result showed there were two types of grammatical interference occur in the students’ writing. They were interference in functions or meanings of grammatical forms and relations in particular word order or namely morphological and syntactical. The highest frequency of interference found in the syntax elements in the use of word order. In morphological elements, the highest frequency of interference was found in the use of plurality. Factor caused the interference was the over-generalized of English rules as in Indonesian language, the limitation of vocabulary mastery and different ways of thinking by studentsand also it caused by the differences of Indonesian and English grammarin the structural factors.As suggestion, the students need to master both grammar in Indonesian and English as they are important to prevent errors caused by the first language interference.For English teachers, they could consider the interference in students’ writings as valuable feedbacks in evaluating and arranging writing materials.
