Motivation is one of the factors that influences learning. In the context of EFL learning, the students have integrative and instrumental motivation types that encourage them to study. This research aimed to describe the level of students’ instrumental and integrative motivation in third, fifth and seventh-semester of English Language Education Study Program in Lambung Mangkurat University.

Descriptive method was used in this research with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The quantitative approach referred to the use of the questionnaire result that was calculated with Likert-scale in form of numerical data and the qualitative approach referred to the use of the follow-up interview result as the supporting data for the questionnaire. The researcher only took one class of each semester as the research sample.

The research revealed that the students had a high level of motivation in EFL learning both instrumental and integrative with total mean 3.41 and 3.33. The third and fifth-semester students had higher instrumental motivation and the seventh-semester students had a higher integrative motivation. Based on the result, it is suggested to other researchers to investigate the effect of motivation on students’ability in English anduse other research designs toconduct more detailed researchlike correlational study and quasi experimental research.
