Technique is one of the important things in teaching, especially teaching speaking. Techniques that can be used in teaching speaking are numerous and varied, from discussions to the use of the games. This research aims to find out the techniques used by the teacher when teaching speaking at Rumah InggrisBanjarmasin. 

The researcher used descriptive method and qualitative approach. The sample of this research was two teachers who taught in the public group. Public group is one type of class at Rumah InggrrisBanjarmasin, which includes students from various schools and they don’t know each other yet. This class consists of 4-6 students. The instruments used in this research were observation and interview. In analyzing the data, researcher used three steps, namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. From the steps that have been done, the researcher found that there are six techniques used.

Based on data analysis, it was concluded that the teacher at Rumah Inggris Banjarmasin uses six techniques when teaching speaking in public group; discussion, brainstorming, story completion, drill, question and answer, and communication games. The techniques used are techniques that help the teachers in teaching, which have been adapted to the subject matter. Researcher strongly suggest that teachers should use a lot of techniques in teaching speaking while teaching English in the class so the learning objectives can be achieved.
