ABSTRACT

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is one of the mainstay vegetables in the lowlands. One of them can be cultivated in swamp land, which is land that is waterlogged for at least three months. The problems found in lowland swamps for agriculture are nutrient-poor parent material, thick grain, pyrite, when converted will release compounds that can poison plants (sulfide, ferrous iron, organic acids) and low soil pH. One way to overcome problems in swamps is to use organic fertilizers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the dose and frequency of tofu liquid organic fertilizer application on the growth and yield of eggplant in swamp land and to determine the best combination of dose and frequency of tofu liquid organic fertilizer application on eggplant growth and yield in swamp land. This study was designed using a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor is the dose of tofu liquid organic fertilizer (d), namely: d0 = Control (without POC), d1 = 50 ml.tan-1, d2 = 100 ml.tan-1, d3 = 150 ml.tan-1. The second factor is the frequency of application of liquid organic fertilizer tofu waste (p), namely: p1 = giving once every 5 days, p2 = giving once every 7 days, p3 = giving every 9 days. From the experiment there were 12 treatment combinations, each treatment was repeated 3 times, so there were 36 experimental units. The variables observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), leaf area (cm), number of branches, flowering time (DAT), number of flowers, age of harvest (DAT), number of fruits, fresh fruit weight (g), plant wet weight (g) and plant dry weight (g). The results showed that the application of tofu liquid waste organic fertilizer by giving a combination of dose and frequency on eggplant plants only had an effect on several observation parameters including number of leaves, leaf area, number of branches, flowering time, harvest age, fresh fruit weight and dry weight of the finished crop. , while the plant height, number of flowers, number of fruits and plant wet weight did not have a significant effect on plants. The dose treatment affected the number of leaves at 14 DAP and 28 DAP, leaf area at 14 DAP, fresh fruit weight and plant dry weight after harvest. The best treatment was d2 (100 ml.tan-1), while the dose treatment was on the number of leaves aged 21 DAP, 35 DAP, 42 DAP, leaf area at 21 DAP, 28 DAP, 35 DAP and 42 DAP, number of branches, time flowering and harvest age. The best treatment was d3 (150 ml.tan-1). Frequency treatment affected the number of leaves aged 14 DAP, 21 DAP and 28 DAP, leaf area at 21 DAP and 42 DAP. The best treatment was p2 (Giving every 7 days), frequency treatment on the number of leaves aged 35 DAP and 42 DAP, leaf area at 14 DAP, 28 DAP and 42 DAP, number of branches, flowering time and harvest age. The best treatment is p1 (Giving every 5 days).
