Anxiety is the subjective sensation of stress, nervousness, and concern associated with the autonomic nervous system's arousal. Speaking in foreign languages is the most anxiety-inducing language ability situation of learning. This research aims to identify the types and sources of students’ anxiety in speaking English faced by the English Language Education Study Program Students batch 2019.

This research used qualitative methods and applied purposive sampling techniques. The research participants were six students who experienced anxiety in class A4 and A5 advanced speaking classes in the fourth semester of ELESP batch 2019. The six students were chosen because they had anxiety criteria based on the classroom observation that the researcher did. The data were gathered through an observation checklist and interview.

The result of this research showed that there were two types of students’ speaking anxiety in learning English at English Language Education Study Program Batch 2019, they were state anxiety and trait anxiety. These types of anxiety caused by several sources of anxiety were communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation.

From the result of this research, speaking anxiety had two types caused by three sources of anxiety. Therefore, this research is expected to give implications for students to find out the types and sources of speaking anxiety that cause them to be anxious when speaking in English. For lecturers, this research could help them understand that every student has different anxiety experiences in speaking. And this research is also expected to be a source for the next researcher who has a similar topic.
