ABSTRACT
Pekauman Village, which is located in South Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City, in the last three years (2019-2021) had the highest number of residential fires, namely 17 incidents. Children are a group vulnerable to disasters because of their lack of knowledge to save themselves when a disaster occurs. The provision of knowledge on disaster mitigation is expected to reduce the level of disaster vulnerability to children. The use of learning media is one of the efforts to increase students' understanding of disaster mitigation. Learning media that can be used to increase students' knowledge about disaster mitigation is educational games. Educational games other than as entertainment media can also be used to teach special materials such as disaster mitigation, with the high interest of students in learning to use game media, the level of students' knowledge of mitigation also increases. The educational game used in this study is the wasikerman educational game, this game explains the stages of residential fire mitigation. The method used in this research is Quasi Experimental Non Randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample in this study was the entire class VII, totaling 41 students, which was divided into two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. The determination of this sample used a random sampling technique. Measurement of the results was carried out by distributing the pretest at the beginning of the study and the posttest at the end of the study. The results of this study are an increase in knowledge in the experimental class by 52%, and an increase in knowledge in the control class by 39%, so that learning about residential fire mitigation by using the educational game wasikerman is 13% superior to using only reading material.
