Local Community Wisdom in Forest Management at Balai Adat Pipitak
Jaya, South Kalimantan. The general objective of this study is to assess the
wisdom of local communities in forest management at Balai Adat Pipitak Jaya,
Piani Sub-district, Tapin District, South Kalimantan. While the specific purpose
of this research is to know aspect of ideological superstructure at Pipitak Jaya
Village community, to know the social structure aspect of society in Pipitak Jaya
Village, and to know the aspect of material infrastructure in Pipitak Jaya Village
community. The method used in this study is a qualitative method of ethnography,
where the method of ethnographic qualitative research is a research approach
undertaken on the natural conditions that develop what it is. The technique of
determining informants using porposive is the way of determining which is based
on certain objectives and on the consideration of the researcher where the
selected informant knows the information with the problem to be studied such as
the value of culture and local wisdom. Data collection techniques are
observation, interview and document study. Based on the results obtained can be
identified forms of local wisdom on socio-cultural components of society are:
ideological superstructure, social structure and infra structure material. The
ideological superstructure includes traditional rituals, beliefs, taboos and local
knowledge. Social structures include customary institutions and adat rules.
Material infrastructure includes cultivation, plantation and harvesting of forest
products.
