Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan menghasilkan e-modul sebagai media pembelajaran IPA berbasis Authentic Learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik SMP pada topik kalor. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Desain penelitian dan pengembangan yang dilakukan menggunakan model Tessmer. Uji coba penelitian menggunakan one group pre-test and post-test. Uji validasi pada 3 pakar pembelajaran IPA dan 2 praktisi, uji coba kelompok kecil pada 5 peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 7 Tanjung, dan uji lapangan pada 19 peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 1 Tanjung. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen lembar validasi e-modul, lembar pengamatan keterlaksanaan e-modul, dan tes berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) E-modul termasuk sangat valid ditinjau dari aspek isi, bahasa, dan penyajian materi; (2) E-modul termasuk praktis, karena keterbacaan e-modul dalam kategori praktis, keterlaksanaan e-modul dan respon peserta didik pada uji kelompok kecil maupun uji lapangan dalam kategori sangat praktis; dan (3) E-modul termasuk efektif, karena capaian keterampilan berpikir kritis pada uji kelompok kecil dalam kategori baik dan nilai n-gain berpikir kritis peserta didik pada uji lapangan dalam kategori sedang. Dengan demikian, e-modul bermuatan authentic learning yang dikembangkan termasuk layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik

This research focuses on producing a science e-module as a learning media which is based on Authentic Learning to improve students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of heat for junior high school level. This research is a development research. This is development design research which is carried out using the Tessmer model. The research trial uses one group pre-test and post-test. Validation test is carried out on 3 science learning experts and 2 practitioners, meanwhile small group trial is carried out on 5 students from 7th grade of SMPN 7 Tanjung, and implementation test is carried out on 19 students from 7th grade of SMPN 1 Tanjung. The data is collected by e- module validation sheet instruments, e-module implementation observation sheets, and critical thinking tests. This research shows that: (1) E-modules are very valid in terms of content, language, and material presentation aspects; (2) E-module is practical, because the readability of e-modules is in the practical category. Beside of it, the implementation of e-module and student responses to small group tests and field tests are also in the very practical category; and (3) E-module is effective, because either the achievement of critical thinking skills on the small group test is in the good category and the n-gain value of students' critical thinking skill in the field test is in the medium category. Thus, the e-module based on authentic learning that has been developed is suitable to be used to improve the students' critical thinking skills
