PENGARUH EKSTRAK TANAMAN BAWANG DAYAK (ELEUTHERINE PALMIFOLIA (L.) MERR) PADA KULIT TIKUS YANG DIPAPAR SINAR ULTRAVIOLET IN VIVO

Radiasi sinar ultraviolet dapat memberikan efek merugikan pada kesehatan melalui mekanisme terbentuknya reactive oxygen species. ROS dapat menyebabkan stress oksidatif pada struktur sel yaitu lemak dan protein. Marker stress oksidatif terhadap lipid berupa malondialdehyde (MDA), sedangkan pada protein menghasilkan advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP). Untuk menghambat stress oksidatif, maka dibutuhkan adanya antioksidan. Antioksidan eksogen dapat diperoleh dari bawang dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr). Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak tanaman bawang dayak pada kulit tikus (Rattus norvegicus) setelah dipapar sinar ultraviolet. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah tikus jantan berjumlah 24 ekor dengan 4 kelompok perlakuan. P0 sebagai kelompok kontrol, P1 hanya dipapar sinar ultraviolet, P2 hanya diberi ekstrak tanaman, dan P3 adalah kelompok yang diberi ekstrak tanaman dan dipapar sinar ultraviolet. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik, rata-rata kadar MDA (nmol/L) pada kelompok P3 terhadap P0 didapatkan perbedaan yang tidak bermakna. Sedangkan rerata kadar AOPP (μmol/L) pada kelompok P0 terhadap P3 menunjukkan perbedaan yang bermakna. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak tanaman bawang dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) mengandung senyawa antioksidan yang dapat menurunkan kadar MDA dan AOPP pada kulit tikus yang dipapar sinar ultraviolet.

THE EFFECT OF DAYAK ONION PLANT EXTRACT (ELEUTHERINE PALMIFOLIA (L.) MERR) ON RAT SKIN (RATTUS NORVEGICUS) EXPOSED BY ULTRAVIOLET RAYS IN VIVO

Ultraviolet radiation can cause a harmful effects on health through the mechanism of the formation of reactive oxygen species. ROS can cause oxidative stress on cell structures, that is lipid and protein. Oxidative stress markers of lipids is malondialdehyde (MDA), whereas on proteins will produce advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP). To inhibit oxidative stress, antioxidants are needed. Exogenous antioxidants can be obtained from dayak onions (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr). Therefore this study was conducted to determine the effect of onion dayak plant extract on the skin of rats (Rattus norvegicus) after being exposed by ultraviolet light. The subjects in this study were 24 male rats with 4 treatment groups. P0 as a control group, P1 is only exposed to ultraviolet light, P2 is only given plant extracts, and P3 is a group that is given plant extracts and exposed to ultraviolet light. Based on the result of the statistical test, the mean number of MDA (nmol/L) level in the P3 group compared to the P0 group found a nonsignificant difference. While the mean number of AOPP (μmol/L) level in the P0 group compared to the P3 group shows a significant difference. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the extract of dayak onion plant (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) contains antioxidant compounds that can reduce MDA and AOPP levels in the skin of rats that exposed by the ultraviolet light.
