Speaking is an important aspect of learning a foreign language that student should master in order to communicate with others. It is not easy to teach speaking for university students, especially English Language Education Study Program students. In order to improve student accomplishment, it is required to construct learning material. PowerPoint was chosen because to create learning media since it is widely used in the world of education and in the learning process, so educators will have no trouble creating or adapting it to other resources. The use of PowerPoint can also be used in flipped classroom. The purpose of this experimental study is to determine the effect of using PowerPoint-based videos in flipped classroom and those who were taught by using PowerPoint-based videos in lecture-based classroom at the English Language Education Study Program Batch 2022, Lambung Mangkurat University.

 

In this study Non-Equivalence Control Group Design was chosen because both experiment and control groups cannot be determined based on their criteria similarity. The population of this research is all the English Language Education Study Program students’ who took Speaking and Listening for General Communication Course in the Academic Year of 2022-2023 in the Even Semester. Cluster random sampling is used to determine the sample because there are four classes of students, A1-A4. For this study, A3 is chosen as experimental group and A4 is for control group because the results of Pre-Test showed that A4 students have higher scores.

 

The hypothesis testing in this study using Independent Sample T Test. The results of the Independent Sample T Test analysis in both experiment and control groups, it is known that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.175 is greater than 0.05, it means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It was concluded that there were significant differences in the results of applying PowerPoint videos to students' speaking achievement in the control and experimental groups. Researchers are expected to be able to develop PowerPoint based videos by applying it to other materials to find out whether other materials match this learning method in order to achieve the expected goals.
