In every learning process especially in learning English, there must be engagement that occurs among the students. Students' engagement is a very influential factor in student success in learning English. In order to increase students' engagement in learning English, the use of learning media is an important thing to consider in learning English. There are various kinds of learning media, one of which is mobile learning media, an example of mobile learning media used in learning English is the X* learning application. The purpose of this research is to figure out the students’ engagement in learning English through X* learning application for ELESP students of FKIP ULM batch of 2022.  

This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The instruments used in this research were questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this research were ELESP students batch of 2022 who had used X* learning application, of which 30 of them filled out the questionnaire and 5 of them were selected as interviewees.

The results of this research obtained positive results regarding students' engagement with the use of X* learning application. These results can be seen from the four indicators of students' engagement used in this research, namely Skills engagement, Emotional engagement, Participation/interaction engagement, and Performance engagement.

As suggestions, each student is expected could continue to engage themselves in using the media used in learning English, the lecturers could also adopt other mobile learning applications that can encourage student engagement in English learning, and hopefully this research may serve as a source of reference or inspiration for other researchers wishing to look into how the students’ engagement of the use mobile learning application.
