ABSTRACT. Sengon plants (P. falcataria) are one of the plants that have a high survival rate because sengon plants can adjust water and can adapt to the characteristics of the ex-mining soil. Variations in wood diameter in plants that have the same species, age, and planting location are caused by factors of treedensity,competitionwithotherplants,plantmanagement,pests,diseases,andavailabilityofnutrients. Thepurposeofthisstudywastoanalyzetheanatomicalcharacteristicsofsengonwoodbasedonvariations in diameter classes as determinants for its final use. Samples were taken from the post-coal mining land reclamation area at PT Borneo Indobara, then tested for physical properties of water content, specific gravity,maceration,observationunderamicroscopewithamagnificationof100and400afterthatthrough measurements with the imagej application. The study was also conducted in the Forest Products Technologylaboratory,FacultyofForestry,LambungMangkuratUniversity,Banjarbaru.Theresultsofthe calculations can provide basic information regarding the anatomical characteristics of wood, significant differencesbetweenfiberlengthandvessellength.Theaveragevalueofthelumendiameteris8 µm,and theaveragevalueofthecellwallthicknessis1.32µm.Thefiberderivativeshaveanaveragerunkelnumber value of 0.33, an average weaving power value of 12.46, an average muhlsteph number (%) of 73.08, an average stiffness coefficient value of 0.13, and an average flexibility coefficient value of 0.76. The good quality offiberderivatives isobtainedinsengonwood,includingclass2category,withatotalvalueof350 from the calculation of the requirements and value of wood fiber as a raw material for pulp that has been studied, so that it is possible for an alternative raw material for pulp and paper.

ABSTRAK.Tanamansengon(P.falcataria)merupakansalahsatutanamanyangmempunyaipersentase hidup tinggi karena tanaman sengon dapat menyesuaikan air dan dapat beradaptasi dengan karakteristik tanahbekastambangtersebut. Variasidiameter kayu pada tanamanyangmemilikispesies,umur,danlokasi tanamyangsamadisebabkanoleh faktor kerapatan pohon, kompetisi dengan tanaman lain, pengelolaan tanaman,hama,penyakit,danketersediaanunsurhara.Tujuandaripenelitianiniyaituuntukmenganalisis karakteristikanatomikayusengonberdasarkanvariasikelasdiametersebagaipenentuuntukpenggunaan akhirnya.SampeldiambildarikawasanreklamasilahanpascatambangbatubaradiPTBorneoIndobara, kemudian diuji sifat fisik dari kadar air, berat jenis, maserasi, pengamatan pada mikroskop dengan perbesaran100 dan400 setelah itumelaluipengukuran dengan aplikasi imagej. Penelitian juga dilakukan di laboratorium Tekhnologi Hasil Hutan Fakultas Kehutanan Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Banjarbaru. Hasil dari perhitungan dapat memberikan informasi dasar mengenai karakteristik anatomi kayu, adanya perbedaansignifikandiantarapanjangseratdanpanjangpembuluh.Nilaireratadiameterlumenyaitu8µm, denganrerataketebalandindingselsebesar1,32µm.Seratturunanmemilikireratabilanganrunkelsebesar 0,33, rerata daya tenun sebesar 12,46, rerata bilangan muhlsteph (%) sebesar 73,08, rerata koefisien kekakuan sebesar 0,13, dan rerata koefisien kelenturan sebesar 0,76. Kualitas serat turunan yang baik ditemukanpadakayusengon,yangtermasukdalamkategorikelas2denganjumlahnilai350berdasarkan perhitunganpersyaratandannilaiseratkayusebagaibahanbakupulp.Olehkarenaitu,kayusengondapat digunakan sebagai alternatif bahan baku untuk pulp dan kertas.
