Argumentative text is a form of rhetoric that attempts to influence the attitudes and opinions of other people, so that they believe and ultimately act according to the language desired by the author. The purpose of writing an argument is to prove the author's opinion so that readers accept his opinion. In the argumentation paragraph, the author conveys an opinion accompanied by strong and convincing explanations and reasons so that the reader can be influenced. Through argumentative writing, students can express their ideas about something they consider to be true. By using data in the form of facts, students will be better able to convince others of the truth of the opinions they express.
This research uses a correlational research design, namely clearly explaining the issues at issue and connecting two or more variables. In this research, the focus of attention is the relationship between word understanding and the ability to write argumentative texts in class XI students at SMA Negeri 4 Banjarmasin.
Data collection is used to collect data to be researched. This language requires strategic and systematic language to obtain data that is valid and in accordance with reality,
This research data analysis uses qualitative data analysis by describing actual event data.
As a result of the research carried out, researchers obtained data that the application of argumentative text learning to improve students' understanding of Indonesian language subjects. The application of argumentative text learning in this research was carried out in class XI-7 at SMAN 4 Banjarmasin. In this research, researchers used observation, interviews and documentation methods. This chapter presents data that is in accordance with the research objectives. Data presentation is intended to present or explain data obtained from the learning process that occurs in class XI-7 at SMAN 4 Banjarmasin.
Educators suggest that in the teaching and learning process or delivering teaching materials, they should use various media that are appropriate to the topic of discussion that will be given during the learning process.
