Sektor pariwisata dan ekonomi kreatif di Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Selatan mendorong perlunya ruang yang mewadahi potensi lokal, khususnya dalam bidang kuliner dan produk oleh-oleh. Belum tersedia fasilitas yang representatif dalam menampilkan identitas budaya daerah sekaligus mendukung aktivitas ekonomi masyarakat. Merespons hal tersebut, dibuat rancangan Sentra Kuliner dan Oleh-oleh Hulu Sungai Selatan dengan pendekatan Arsitektur Neo-Vernakular yang diwujudkan melalui tiga lapisan; bentuk fisik yang mengadaptasi arsitektur tradisional dan material lokal dengan penerapan bentuk atap serta penggunaan material bambu dan rotan. Penerapan nilai non-fisik seperti budaya dan filosofi yang berbentuk ornamen, serta penciptaan gaya baru yang diterapkan pada fasad bangunan.

The tourism and creative economy sectors in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency are driving the need for a space that accommodates local potential, particularly in the culinary and souvenir sectors. Representative facilities are lacking to showcase regional cultural identity while simultaneously supporting community economic activities. In response, the Hulu Sungai Selatan Culinary and Souvenir Center was designed using a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach, realized through three layers: a physical form that adapts traditional architecture and local materials with the application of roof shapes and the use of bamboo and rattan materials. The application of non-physical values ??such as culture and philosophy in the form of ornaments, as well as the creation of a new style applied to the building facade.
