The land area of Indonesia is approximately 190 million hectares, consisting of forests and non-forest land. According to the latest data from Global Forest Watch, in 2023, Indonesia recorded a loss of approximately 144,000 hectares of forest cover. The greatest losses occurred in mixed agricultural land, scrubland, and swamp land. The objectives of this study are to identify the success rate of forest and land rehabilitation in the Patikalain Village Forest Social Forestry Institution, analyze the impact of forest and land rehabilitation activities on the socio-economic and environmental aspects of the Patikalain Village Forest Social Forestry Institution, and compile recommendations and considerations for improving the effectiveness of the Social Forestry program for the Patikalaian Village Forest Social Forestry Institution. The analysis method used was to use planting location maps to see the planting area, plant types, and planting patterns. Observation points were determined using purposive sampling techniques. The evaluation results from 30 plots showed that the forest and land rehabilitation program was “good” successful, with a plant growth rate of 81.07% (average of 500 trees/ha), 71.43% of which were local species and 79.03% of which were classified as healthy. The main obstacles included pest attacks, wildlife disturbances, difficult access to planting locations, and uneven seedling quality. The Social Forestry Program shows positive multi-faceted impacts. The implementation of the program shows “good enough” to “good” achievements in terms of institutional aspects (score of 87.5), community social aspects (score of 76,5), welfare (score of 81.75), forest conservation (score of 74.5), and environmental conservation (score of 54.25). Based on the evaluation results, recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the Social Forestry Program at the Patikalain Village Forest Social Forestry Institution include: strengthening community enterprise institutions, developing participatory monitoring and evaluation systems, strengthening partnerships between communities and relevant parties, expanding marketing networks and digital promotion, resolving conflicts, and improving community technical and managerial capacity.
