Amelia Nurisnaeni (2210713120001), Capture Fisheries Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Lambung Mangkurat University. Stock Status of Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) landed at the Banjarmasin Fishing Port, South Kalimantan Province. Under the guidance of Ir. H. Iriansyah, M.Si. as the chief advisor and Ir. Irhamsyah, M.Si. as the advisor.

Fish stocks are an estimate of the amount of fish resources in a certain area and time, while the high economic value of mackerel causes fishing to continue to be carried out so that it has the potential to threaten sustainability if not controlled. This study aims to analyze the value  of Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE), the estimation of Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) and optimal fishing efforts, as well as the utilization level of Indian mackerel landed at the Banjarmasin Fishing Port. This research was carried out in February-June 2026, covering all stages from preparation to improvement after the thesis hearing. The methods used included observation, interviews, and documentation for primary data, while secondary data was obtained from the Banjarmasin Fishing Port, with data analysis in the form of CPUE calculations, standardization of fishing gear, MSY estimation, and utilization level.

The results showed that the CPUE of Indian mackerel landed at Banjarmasin Fishing Port during 2018–2025 was highest in 2020 at 735.94 kg/trip and lowest in 2025 at 13.85 kg/trip. The estimated Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) was 727,588.19 kg/year, with an optimum fishing effort (fopt) of 2,362 trips/year. According to the criteria of the National Commission for Fish Stock Assessment (1997), the utilization level was highest in 2020 (overfishing) and lowest in 2025 (moderate). Meanwhile, based on the criteria proposed by Suman (2016), the utilization level throughout the entire observation period was classified as overfishing.
