Riparian forests in Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency (HST), South Kalimantan, have experienced degradation due to deforestation, land conversion, and settlement expansion, contributing to increasing flood risk each year. This study aimed to analyze riparian forest land cover changes and their influence on flood potential in HST Regency over the period 2021–2025. Sentinel-2 imagery was classified using a supervised method in ArcGIS into four vegetation classes and validated through confusion matrix and field ground check. The relationship between land cover change and flood events was assessed using linear regression, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation. Results showed a consistent decline in primary and secondary forest cover along the riparian zone, with Dense/High Vegetation recorded at 0.00 Ha throughout the observation period. Low Vegetation (shrub/open land) yielded an R Square of 0.6389, demonstrating that land cover change is a far more dominant flood trigger than rainfall (R Square = 0.1046). Paired t-test and ANOVA produced p-values of 0.0000, confirming vegetation changes resulted from anthropogenic activities. Strict riparian boundary enforcement, planned revegetation, and community-based management are urgently needed to restore the hydrological functions of HST's riparian zones.
Hutan riparian di Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), Kalimantan Selatan, mengalami degradasi akibat deforestasi, alih fungsi lahan, dan pertumbuhan permukiman yang berdampak pada meningkatnya risiko banjir setiap tahun. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perubahan tutupan lahan hutan riparian dan pengaruhnya terhadap potensi banjir di Kabupaten HST periode 2021–2025. Data citra Sentinel-2 diklasifikasikan menggunakan metode supervised pada ArcGIS ke dalam empat kelas vegetasi dan divalidasi dengan confusion matrix serta ground check lapangan. Analisis hubungan tutupan lahan dengan kejadian banjir dilakukan melalui regresi linier, uji t, ANOVA, dan Korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan konsisten tutupan hutan primer dan sekunder di sepanjang zona riparian, dengan Vegetasi Tinggi/Hutan Rapat tercatat 0,00 Ha sepanjang periode pengamatan. Vegetasi Rendah (semak/lahan terbuka) memiliki nilai R Square 0,6389, membuktikan perubahan tutupan lahan sebagai faktor penyebab banjir yang jauh lebih dominan dibandingkan curah hujan (R Square = 0,1046). Uji t Berpasangan dan ANOVA menghasilkan p-value 0,0000, mengkonfirmasi perubahan vegetasi terjadi akibat aktivitas antropogenik. Diperlukan penetapan sempadan sungai yang tegas, revegetasi terencana, dan pengelolaan berbasis masyarakat untuk memulihkan fungsi hidrologis kawasan riparian HST.
