This research aims to analyze the potential of tree stands, evaluate the community structure using the Importance Value Index (IVI), and analyze the comparative volume potential between commercial and non-commercial timber species in the KHDTK Mandiangin area of Lambung Mangkurat University. Data collection employed the Systematic Line Plot Sampling method with 30 sample plots (total area 1.2 ha) at the tree phase (DBH ≥ 20 cm). The measured parameters included diameter, merchantable height, and species identification.Data analysis included Importance Value Index (IVI), stand volume estimation, and classification of commercial and non-commercial timber species based on relevant literature and regulations. The results showed a total tree stand volume potential of 148.47 m³/ha from 232 individuals and 20 tree species. The species with the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) were Madang Puspa (Schima wallichii) at 36.78% and Alaban (Vitex pinnata) at 33.08%. The species with the largest volume were Jengkol (Pithecellobium lobatum) at 16.90 m³/ha and Pulantan (Alstonia scholaris) at 16.08 m³/ha. The non-commercial group dominated with a volume potential of 84.90 m³/ha (57.2%) from 13 species, while the commercial group contributed 63.57 m³/ha (42.8%) from 7 species. The dominance of non-commercial species indicates that the forest is in a natural secondary succession phase. This study recommends maintaining the protection status of the area and conducting regular monitoring to support sustainable forest management in the KHDTK Mandiangin area.
