This study was conducted because the students were not enthusiastic to participate actively in learning reading. As a result, there were still many students who got low score. This study aimed to find out if there was any difference in students’ learning achievement between the students who were taught by using Course Review Horay and those who were taught by using Student Teams-Achievement Division in reading comprehension of descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Banjarbaru in the academic year 2017/2018. This study used quasi experimental design and quantitative approach. The researcher used cluster random sampling technique in choosing the sample. Moreover, X MIA 1 was chosen as the experimental class and X MIA 3 was chosen as the control class, each class consisted of 34 students.

The result showed that the value of t-test was 2,22 and t-table was 1,99. It meant there was a difference in students’ learning achievement between the students who were taught by using Course Review Horay and those who were taught by using Student Teams-Achievement Division in reading comprehension of descriptive text. It was suggested for the teacher to change the learning model with attractive learning model.
