Achievement motivation and physical fitness are two essential factors influencing students' performance in school-based futsal extracurricular programs. However, information regarding students' achievement motivation and dominant physical fitness components remains limited, particularly at the junior high school level. This study aimed to analyze the level of achievement motivation and identify the dominant physical fitness components among students participating in the futsal extracurricular program at SMP Negeri 8 Banjarbaru. A quantitative descriptive survey design was employed involving all 13 male students participating in the extracurricular program using a total sampling technique. Achievement motivation was measured using a validated 20-item questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.838), while physical fitness was assessed through five standardized tests, namely the Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run (PACER), 50-m Sprint Test, T-Test, 60-second Situp Test, and Standing Broad Jump Test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage. The findings indicated that students demonstrated a very high level of achievement motivation (83.37%), reflecting strong commitment to training and performance improvement. Speed was identified as the dominant physical fitness component, followed by lower-body explosive power and agility, whereas abdominal muscular strength and cardiorespiratory endurance remained relatively low. These findings suggest that extracurricular futsal programs should maintain students' high achievement motivation while prioritizing structured training to improve endurance and core strength. The results provide practical guidance for coaches and schools in designing evidence-based training programs and offer a foundation for future correlational studies examining the relationship between achievement motivation and physical fitness.
