ABSTRAK

Perubahan iklim global mengancam kestabilan ekosistem hutan tropis, termasuk Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus (KHDTK) Universitas Lambung Mangkurat yang memiliki variasi tutupan vegetasi kompleks. Struktur vegetasi lengkap mampu menciptakan iklim mikro stabil dan mendukung regenerasi alami, sehingga lahan terdegradasi perlu direhabilitasi guna menjaga kelestarian habitat.

ABSTRACT

Global climate change threatens the stability of tropical forest ecosystems, including the Lambung Mangkurat University Forest Area with Special Purposes (KHDTK), which features complex variations in vegetation cover. This study aims to identify variations in vegetation cover based on Normalized Difference Red Edge (NDRE) values, analyze microclimate variations across different vegetation cover types, and assess the stability of vegetation habitats in Block A Mandiangin (part of the ULM Special Purpose Forest Area/KHDTK). The research was conducted in Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency, from February to June 2026, employing a quantitative approach that integrated Sentinel-2 remote sensing data with field measurements across 16 purposively selected plots, representing a sampling intensity of 0.1% of the area 644.16 hectares. The observed microclimate parameters included carbon dioxide (ppm), air temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), and light intensity (Lux). Analyses comprised descriptive statistics, spatial analysis, correlation, simple linear regression, and model validation using RMSE, as well as habitat stability scoring based on an equal-interval method with three equal classes. The results indicate that vegetation cover is dominated by the moderate class (NDRE 0.60–0.80), covering an area of ??390.08 ha (60.6%), with no areas classified as dense vegetation. The relationships between NDRE and carbon dioxide (R²=0.9387, RMSE=2.95 ppm), temperature (R²=0.9387, RMSE=0.56°C), relative humidity (R²=0.9621, RMSE=1.54%), and light intensity (R²=0.9017, RMSE=4.25 Lux) demonstrate the role of vegetation in microclimate stability. The majority of the area is classified as having high stability (427.802 ha), followed by moderate (214.15 ha) and low stability (2.208 ha). Complete vegetation structure was able to create a stable microclimate and supporting natural regeneration, therefore degraded land needs to be rehabilitated to maintain habitat sustainability.
