Teaching is an activity of giving knowledge, guide, and build the people. In teaching English, teacher is expected to teach English language that integrate with vocabulary. Vocabulary is set of words and the component of linguistic competence to build up the language. In teaching activity, there are some aspects that support teacher to help them give the lesson. Approach, method, technique, media, and material are the aspects of teaching to support teacher teach the language.

This research aims to find out the approach, method, technique, material, and media to teach vocabulary through language skills that are listening, speaking, reading, and writing by the teacher of eighth grade students of SMPN 6 Banjarmasin academic year 2016/2017.

The population is a teacher of eighth grade students academic year 2016/2017. This research uses descriptive study. Based on observations and interviews, they show that teacher teaches vocabulary and use communicative language teaching approach; audio-lingual, grammar-translation, and game method; the techniques are mime, action, gesture, polish equivalent, open-up dictionary, synonym, antonym, and explanation; realia, and picture media; with the material “asking for attention, checking understanding, giving appreciation, asking, and giving opinion with its respond” and “stating and asking ability” to teach vocabulary through four language skills.
