This research aimed to find out the scanning ability of tenth grade students from SMK Farmasi Al-Furqon Banjarmasin.
This research used quantitative approach and descriptive method. The subjects of the research are tenth grade students at SMK Farmasi Al-Furqon Banjarmasin and the samples as many 48 students taken by using total sampling.
The result of this research show that the scanning ability of tenth grade students at SMK Farmasi Al-Furqon is low. It is indicated by the highest percentage of the scanning ability group. Specifically, the highest percentage from the total population is on the low classification (37,5%), there are 4 students (8,3%) in very good classification, 6 students (12,5%) are in good classification, 16 students (33,4%) in moderate classification and 4 students in very low classification.
Based on the result, it is suggested that the tenth grade students of SMK Farmasi Al-Furqon should be aware of their scanning ability, and are able to take the needed effort on either improve and/or maintain their scanning ability. The teacher also can use the research findings on the process of reviewing, adding or modifying the reading material given to classes.
