               The indicated groundworks is conducted to analyze students’ problems in pronouncing English consonants faced by the forth semester English Department students of Lambung Mangkurat University in Academic Year 2018/2019.The design applied in this research was descriptive method with qualitative approach.The data source of the research was the forth semester English Department students of Lambung Mangkurat University in academic year 2018/2019. The researcher applied a purposive sampling technique to gather 30 students in order to compile the data. Pronunciation test, questionnaire, and interview were enforced to collect the data. The result showed that students have problems in pronouncing English consonant sounds. The problems found are: (1) There are differences in phonological sounds between Indonesian and English as  the sounds are similar in phonetic features but have different way in distribution or the absence of the sounds in L1. (2)The influence of L1(interlingual). (3) Devoicing of developmental factor. (4) It is due to overgeneralization (intralingual).(5) Due to performance errors. The inappropriate pronunciations occured when they pronounced the sounds: [b], [t?], [f], [v], [θ], [ð], [z], [?], and [?]. In conclusion, the teachers are proposed to frequently exercise students’ pronunciation by drilling and having listen-repeat techniques. In the need to master the pronunciation of English consonant sounds, it is required for the students to undertake some works like recording, imitating, speaking English a lot, etc.
