This study is aimed to find out students’ the use their reading strategy of twelfth grade of SMAN 1 Sungai Pandan. The researcher uses quantitative approach and designed as a descriptive method in this research. The population of this research was twelfth grade of SMAN 1 Sungai Pandan. The total number of population of this research was 188 students. The sampling techniques of this research was cluster random sampling with 103 students become samples. The instrument used was reading strategy questionnaire. 

The result showed that all of the reading strategies are used by the students. In only differs in the level of usage of each category. In global reading strategies, there were 5 statements fell in high category, 7 statements were medium category and 1 statement fell in low category. In problem-solving strategies, there were 6 statements fell in high usage category, there were 2 statements in medium usage category and there was no number of item in low usage category. In support reading strategies, there were 6 statements reported into high usage category, 2 statements were in medium usage category and 1 statement fell into low usage category. Moreover, the most frequently used reading strategy was problem-solving strategies, followed by support reading strategies and global reading strategies.

 Accordingly, it is suggested to the teacher to give more information and explanation about reading how to use reading strategies affectively and apply the reading strategies. Students are suggested to be more conscious about reading strategies and utilize in their reading activity.
