The permaculture approach uses a sustainable method in which can be used as an alternative design that is effective for a society that wants to start ensuring food independence. Indonesia is a country with sufficient food availability; however, it hasn’t met the criteria in a term of food independency, with the appearances of Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) no. 68 tahun (2002) concerning the issue that food availability required to be based on the resource and local product, in which later to be maintained and developed into productive fields from that own region. With the government law concerning to the issue act as the premise in designing Permaculture Garden in Samarinda. The design in Samarinda’s Permaculture Garden, has issues concerning in three aspects; Economy, Social, and Environmental.
