Wastewater is a community problem as the population increases. Wastewater is a pollutants that can interfere with environmental sustainability, because wastewater contains materials that can endanger human life. Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant is a facility to treat fecal waste and one of the planned efforts to improve the treatment and disposal of waste directly into the environment. The capacity of the Banjarbaru City Fecal Sludge Treatment Pland pond is 20 M3/ day, while the most amount per month in 2022 is only 11 M3 household fecal waste entering the Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant. This showed that the fecal waste entering the Banjarbaru City Sewage Treatment Plant is belowed the capacity of the Banjarbaru City Sewage Treatment Plant, because currently the desludging service is scheduled and is still uses an on-call system.

The objective of the study is to identify and evaluate the existing condition of desludging service in Banjarbaru City and develop recommendations to improve desludging service in Banjarbaru City.

The stages of this research were to interview the Banjarbaru City Fecal Sludge Treatment Pland to find out the desludging service, then collect data of customers who have desludged in 2022. The data was obtained from the PUPR Office of Banjarbaru City. The data obtained from the PUPR Office was used to evaluate the desludging service using a questionnaire. It was identified through the questionnaire that the desludging treatment plant has been actively run with an on-call system, however, when implementing the scheduled desludging service, there were several processes that should be improved and added, especially in the administration system and work health and safety during the desludging process.

The existing desludging service at the PUPR Office Banjarbaru City was fairly good, but there were some things that can be improved such as the lack of promotion to the community regarding the desludging service of the PUPR Office Banjarbaru City, and the lack of a tricycle fleet that can be used through small roads as well as improvements to administration system such as customer data input.
