            Classroom management is one of the keys to success in teaching and learning activities conducted in the classroom. Well designed classroom management by teachers will have a positive effect on students' learning outcomes. The teacher is one of the most important people that can make a good classroom management; it is about how the teachers can organize the classroom in the English teaching and learning process. Every teacher must have a method to present some skill of their student with always up to date knowledge. The development of classroom management also determine how the achievement of the student’s learning. Based on that explanation, it seems important and necessary to investigate teachers' activities in developing their teaching and learning in the classroom.

            The question that formulated by the researcher is “How is classroom management in the English teaching and learning process?” and the purpose of the study is to know how the classroom management process in English classes that they were taught. Then, the approach of this research is the qualitative approach. The subject of this study was an English teacher who taught in class VIII; this is from SMPN 3 Banjarmasin. The technique for collecting data is using observation and interview. To verify the data, the researcher used Methodological Triangulation. The data analysis was using three steps; they are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.

            The results showed that classroom management was the teacher's understanding of student characters. Besides, class management was under their lesson plans, starting from class arrangements, methods, and strategies, to teacher understanding of student characters still needing improvement due to facilities' constraints, so it looked monotonous. However,with the diversity of student’s characters, the teacher has maximized the role of students in learning so that students can learn more
