The first advisor: Dr. Rina Listia, M.Pd., the second advisor: Dr. Hj Noor Eka Chandra, M.Pd. Keywords: Reading, teaching reading, SQ3R Technique. Reading is crucial skill for student, reading involves understanding what is written as well as paying attention to both words and sounds. There are many teaching techniques in teaching reading one of them is SQ3R. It has many advantages such as make the students more active and more focus in reading. Therefore, this research will discuss the SQ3R technique. This research design was descriptive research made up of two steps and held around one month. The first step is the observation of the teacher and the student. The researcher observes how the teacher used the SQ3R technique in learning process. The second step is an interview with the English teacher. This interview takes place after the researcher has finished the observation. In this method the researcher asks about how the teacher used the SQ3R Technique. The result of the research shows that the SQ3R technique implementation are systematically and help the student to understand the text. The technique also has the advantages and disadvantages. As suggestion, the teacher need to choose better material that aproriate with the teaching technique and teach the lesson to make the student not only smart but also good in attitude.
