Deixis, a key component of language pragmatics that emphasizes the relationship between language and the situational context that is critical to language comprehension, is examined in this study. There are many different kinds of deixis, such as person, place, time, social, and discourse deixis, and they all help us interpret language in a given setting. This study explores the use of deixis, particularly person and time deixis, in Taylor Swift's song "Cardigan," to link language to its contextual reference. The results highlight how frequently and in what ways deixis is employed in the song's lyrics, highlighting its significance for improving language understanding in the context of the song. This study adds to our understanding of language pragmatics by highlighting the importance of context in deixis, the process by which words and expressions take on meaning in relation to the particular settings in which they are used.
