In the case of Indonesian high school learners, some studies have revealed that mother tongue interferes the learners’ pronunciation ability. They cannot pronounce some vowel sounds because some sounds do not exist in the Indonesian language. Based on the problems of mother tongue interference the researcher intends to find the effect of repetition drilling technique on students’ pronunciation ability.

In this study, the researcher used pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design and used purposive sampling. The data of the research were taken in SMPN 13 and were collected through administering pronunciationtests after conducting treatments. The number of students who were in the experimental class was 26 students.

The mean of students’ pre-test scores was 50.38. The median was 50.00. The mode was 40.00. The mean of 26 students’ post-test scores was 79.62. The median was 80.00. The mode was 90.00. The result using SPSS 25 showed the sig. (2-tailed) of the Wilcoxon test is .000.meaning that H1 is accepted. Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that there is a significant effect in students’ pronunciation ability by using the Repetition Drilling technique. It is suggested that English teachers use repetition drilling in teaching pronunciation.
