Textbook analysis involves a systematic examination of the textual content within the confines of a textbook. This study employs a document analysis method, focusing on the English textbook titled "Pathway To English" utilized at SMAN 1 Banjarmasin. The primary objective is to assess the congruence of this textbook’s content with the 2013 curriculum, in accordance with the criteria proposed by the National Education Standards Agency (BNSP) for a high-quality textbook. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, relying on data extracted from the "Pathway to English" textbook published by Erlangg

Specifically, the study analyzes exercises related to speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills in English. The outcomes of the research reveal that (1) "Pathway to English" aligns effectively with the 2013 curriculum, demonstrating successful incorporation of every Key Indicator (KI) and Key Descriptor (KD) outlined in the curriculum. (2) The materials within the textbook are comprehensively developed, encompassing all essential English language skills training components stipulated in the 2013 curriculum. (3) The content's overall suitability adheres to the benchmarks of English textbooks compatible with the 2013 curriculum, rendering "Pathway to English" a valuable resource for classroom instruction.

Based on these findings, the study recommends that the textbook should include proper citations for the sources of the materials, enabling students to assess their reliability. Furthermore, it advocates for the inclusion of additional content pertaining to students' vocational skills. This research underscores the significance of not only evaluating the alignment of textbooks with the prevailing curriculum, but also addressing their relevance to the students' educational requirements. It emphasizes the imperative role of English educators and educational institutions in conscientiously assessing textbook content to ensure it effectively caters to the students' needs.
