Students may have strategies to help them get over the difficulties. The objective of this study is to ascertain the difficulties faced by students at Lambung Mangkurat University's Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, as well as the causes for those difficulties and the strategies they have come up with.

This study used a descriptive method with qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of the 2021 English Language Education Study Program, and the participants in this study were six students. The students were selected to be interview based on their speaking scores. Furthermore, the instruments used in this study were observation, questionnaire and interview.

The study found the difficulty comes from grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and fluency. The researcher found that the causes of those difficulties are fear of making mistakes, anxiety, lack of confidence, shyness, lack of motivation, and the researcher found different answer that lack of preparation is also one of the students’ causes in speaking difficulties. The result of this study revealed the strategies used by the students to overcome the difficulties. The strategies are watching English movies or videos, practicing speaking Enlgish, memorizing vocabularies and find an information on the internet. Therefore, it is suggested that the students students should aware about students difficulties in speaking English, the causes of difficulties in speaking English, and use all of the strategies can be helpful to overcome their speaking difficulties.
