ABSTRACT

This research is about the quality characteristics of milled rice based on the it’s of milling machine on several varieties of grain in Astambul District, Banjar Regency.  This research aims to determine the effect of the interaction between the type of grinding machine on productivity capacity and rice varieties on rice quality and to obtain the best interaction between the type of grinding machine and rice varieties on rice quality, ad was carried out in Astambul District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan.  Preparation time until implementation starts from June-August 2023. The experimental design used in this research was a two-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD).  The first factor treats the productivity capacity of rice milling machines (m) which consists of three different types of productivity capacity, namely m1 = productivity 1,500 - 2,000 kg/hour, m2 = productivity 1,200 - 1,500 kg/hour, and m3 = productivity 1,000 - 1,200 kg/hour.  The second factor is the grain variety treatment (v) which consists of four treatments, namely v1 = Inpari 30 variety, v2 = Inpari 32 variety, v3 = Siam Datu variety, and v4 = Karan Dukuh variety.  Research obtained 12 treatment combinations and each treatment was repeated three times so that there were 36 experimental units. The results of the research show that there are interaction effect of the type of productivity capacity of the grinding machine and the rice grain variety on the quality of milled rice on the quality standards of head grains, broken grains, groats, yellow/damaged grains and lime grains.  The best interaction between the type of productivity capacity of the milling machine and the rice grain variety on the quality of milled rice is a milling machine with a productivity capacity of 1,000 - 1,200 kg/hour with the Inpari 32 variety with standard SNI Medium II milled rice quality.

ABSTRAK 

Penelitian ini mengenai karakteristik mutu giling beras berdasarkan tipe mesin penggilingan pada beberapa varietas gabah di Kecamatan Astambul Kabupaten Banjar.  Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh interakasi jenis mesin penggiling pada kapasitas produktivitas dan varietas padi terhadap mutu beras dan untuk mendapatkan interakasi terbaik antara jenis mesin penggiling dan varietas padi terhadap mutu beras, penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Astambul, Kabupaten Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan.  Waktu persiapan sampai dengan pelaksanaan mulai Juni-Agustus 2023. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dua faktor.  Faktor pertama perlakuan kapasitas produktifitas mesin penggilingan padi (m) yang terdiri atas tiga jenis kapasitas produktifitas yang berbeda yaitu m₁ = produktifitas 1.500 – 2.000 kg/jam, m₂ = produktifitas 1.200 - 1.500 kg/jam, dan m₃ = produktifitas 1.000 - 1.200 kg/jam.  Faktor kedua adalah perlakuan varietas gabah (v) yang terdiri atas empat perlakuan yaitu v₁ = varietas Inpari 30, v₂ = varietas Inpari 32, v₃ = varietas Siam Datu, dan v₄ = varietas Karan Dukuh,  didapat 12 kombinasi perlakuan dan setiap perlakuan di ulang tiga kali sehingga terdapat 36 satuan percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh interaksi jenis kapasitas produktivitas mesin penggiling dan varietas gabah padi terhadap mutu giling beras pada standar mutu butir kepala, butir patah, butir menir, butir kuning/rusak dan butir kapur.  Interaksi terbaik antara jenis kapasitas produktifitas mesin penggilingan dan varietas gabah padi terhadap mutu giling beras terdapat mesin giling pada kapasitas produktifitas 1.000 – 1.200 kg/jam dengan varietas Inpari 32 dengan mutu giling beras yang memenuhi persyaratan standar SNI mutu Medium II.
