English has been used as a global language for many years. This situation has brought Indonesia to form a policy to teach English as a foreign language, mainly starting from junior high school to university level. Reading is a crucial skill to learn since students will need this skill in order to use textbook and read their learning material. Many factors can affect reading comprehension achievement and one of them is learning strategies.

The objective of this study was to find out whether there is a difference in the reading comprehension achievement of eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 26 Banjarmasin academic year 2023/2024 after being taught using Think-Pair-Share. The quantitative method was used with a quasi-experimental design. Cluster random sampling was used in determined the samples. Lottery was used in determined the classes as the samples. The experimental class was being taught using Think-Pair-Share, while the control class was being taught using Direct Reading Activity. Both classes have 31 students.

Based on the finding, Asymp.Sig Value of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental class was 0.000 and Ha was accepted. It means that there is a difference in the reading comprehension achievement of eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 26 Banjarmasin for the academic year 2023/2024 after being taught by using Think-Pair-Share. It is suggested to use Think-Pair-Share in teaching reading since it can help students with their reading comprehension achievement.
