In Indonesia, character education began to become an important focus in the education system after the 2013 curriculum was implemented. Character education in Indonesia focuses on the values of Pancasila which is the basic ideology of the country. Religious, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, nationalism, patriotism, appreciation, friendliness/communication, love of peace, reading interest, environmental awareness, and responsibility are represent of Pancasila's values. To form a young generation of quality and integrity, the role of schools is not only responsible for providing academic knowledge, but also to involve building individuals with strong character.
The approach used in this study is qualitative research and use library research design. Semantic culture is used to analyze the character values presented. Qualitative data was gathered by coding instances of these values across various chapters and pages.
The total data analyzed in this research is 107, consist of 87 in form of texts and 20 data in form of pictures. All character values are represented in this book in various ways, including through conversations, reading text, and images. The findings indicate a predominant emphasize on values such as appreciation and hard-working, whereas values like discipline and responsibility are less frequently addressed. Additionally, the study reveals that character values are often represented through texts rather than in form of images.
