Merdeka Curriculum was launched by Menteri Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Nadiem Makarim as a form of evaluation of improvement to the 2013 Curriculum from Lesson Plan into Modul Ajar. Research on Modul Ajar mostly conducted about teachers challenges, teachers’ readiness, and the quality of Modul Ajar. However, research about the compability of Modul Ajar is still limited. This study investigates an analysis on Modul Ajar written by English teachers to Merdeka Curriculum in Banjarmasin.

            The researcher used a qualitative approach with descriptive method to solve study’s problem. The researcher used three types of instruments to analyze the compatibility of Modul Ajar used documentation, checklist of Modul Ajar and interview. The sample of the study are teachers from SMPN 13 Banjarmasin and SMPN 9 Banjarmasin.

            The results reveal that Modul Ajar written by the English teachers met the Merdeka curriculum requirements in accordance with the Kepala Badan Standar, Kurikulum, dan Asesmen Pendidikan Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Nomor 033/H/KR/2022 and 009/H/KR/ 2022. However, several components of the Modul Ajar, such as the subject, initial competence, meaningful understanding, incomplete ABCD component, and time allocation, were not written by the English teachers. Therefore, more attention and raise awareness must be paid by the teachers when writing Modul Ajar. Meanwhile, the complement of Modul Ajar was varied since the teachers were free to choose, design, create, use, and develop the format of Modul Ajar independently for the students' success.
