Reading and writing are related, since writing is the activity of combining words into sentences that can provide information to the reader, while reading is the activity of receiving information from the author. Research on the correlation between students' reading habits and their writing abilities was previously mostly conducted in public secondary schools, such as junior high schools and high schools. However, research in vocational school environments is still limited. This study investigates the correlation between students' reading habits and their writing ability among 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Banjarbaru.

The researcher used a quantitative approach with a correlational design to solve the study'sproblems. The researcher used two types of instruments to measure the students' reading habit, the researcher used questionnaire and to measure students' writing ability the researcher uses writing test. The samples of this study were 35 students in SMK Negeri 1 Banjarbaru recruited on several criteria determined by researcher used purposive technique sampling.

The result shows that the Pearson correlation coefficient of the data is 0.557, it is higher than critical value which is 0.334 for 35 samples. The researcher concludes that there is a positive correlation between students' reading habit and their writing ability of 10th grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Banjarbaru.
