This paper examines the difficulties faced by English teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, which was introduced as a response to the educational disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes student-centered learning so it requires changes in designing lesson plan, classroom management, media use, and learning assessment. Through a systematic literature review, this research identifies the main challenges faced by English teachers. These include difficulties in designing lesson plans that can accommodate various student abilities, motivate students to learn English, integrate technology effectively as a teaching medium, and carry out comprehensive learning assessments within a limited period. Overcoming these challenges requires targeted support, professional development, and infrastructure improvements to ensure the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and create an engaging learning environment for teachers and students.
