Textbooks that are qualified must fulfill the four requirements of advisability, namely content advisability, language advisability, presentation advisability, and graphics advisability(Permendikbud no. 19 in 2005). This study attempts to discover four advisability on the materials included in the object of the study.

Advisability analysis is the focusing study of a textbook to decide its advisabilitybased on BSNP standard.A descriptive qualitative approach is used in this study. The object of this research is “Interactive Book: English for the Seventh Grade of Junior High School Semester 1” textbook. The instruments are documentation andinterview.

The findings show that the materials are in accordance with terms of material completeness, material breadth and material depth. They are enriched with supporting learning materials through websites. Even though some sources are not up to date, the examples and questions are still related to current conditions. Onlanguage advisability, the materials are easy to understand for learners and in accordance with grammar. Although there are some words that learners do not understand, this textbook has provided a solution in the form of “Words to Memorize”. In addition, some texts are also equipped with illustrations. However, not all difficult vocabulary is illustrated so teachers ask students to check the meaning in the dictionary or the internet. On presentation advisability, the material is presented with motivational stimulation, illustrations, discussion activities, hands on activities, and enrichment materials. It shows that teaching and learning activities are not only concerned with the results aspect but also the process skills. Regarding the completeness of the presentation, several things are need to be added. Ongraphic advisability, the materials are equipped with attractive and proportional illustrations as well backgrounds or decorations that are interesting. Although there are a small number of illustrations that have unclear scratches and raster lines, the illustrations can still be understood because they are close to students’ daily lives. The findings are expected to improve and optimize the textbook written by the authors and used by the teacher and students. It is also recommended that teachers adapt the textbook to the students’ need and ability.
