Noor Eka Chandra, M.Pd., the second advisor: Eka Puteri Elyani MP.d. Keywords:Speaking anxiety, Strategies. Speaking is an important component in language acquisition and communication. In fact there are some students of the English Language Education Study Program often get a problem when speaking, especially, having the feeling of anxiety. This problem will impact students in communicating their thoughts and ideas in the classroom. Therefore, this study tries to investigate the strategies by students with speaking anxiety. The method of this research was qualitative with observation, questionnaires, and interview as primary instrument. The research subjects were four ELESP students’ in Listening and Speaking General Communication Course, the academic year of 2023/2024 as a subject. The result of the data show that the strategies used by students with high anxiety in speaking. The study discovered certain strategies that the students applied when they had speaking anxiety. The students used preparation, relaxation, positive thinking, and peer seeking as their strategies. All of the strategies that have been found are related to three factors namely cognitive factors, affectitive factors, and also metacognitive. This study calls for the conclusion of students remain to keep their strategies to reduce speaking anxiety and have more practice for their speaking performance in English.
