Cindai Alus Village, Martapura District, Banjar Regency, has a strong aquaculture-based economic character. The area serves as a center for freshwater fish farming, particularly catfish (Pangasius spp.), and has led to the formation of supporting labor groups such as pond guards, daily workers, and harvest workers. This study aims to describe the structure of household income allocation and expenditure among fisheries workers and to analyze the effects of income, number of dependents, number of school-age children, and age on household expenditure. The research location was purposively selected in Cindai Alus Village, Martapura District, Banjar Regency, as it is a center for catfish aquaculture with high labor demand. The study population consisted of 445 workers, while a sample of 82 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula and selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected through structured interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, with household expenditure as the dependent variable and income, number of dependents, number of school-age children, and age as independent variables. Prior to analysis, classical assumption tests were conducted to ensure model validity.
The results show that household expenditure in aquaculture fisheries workers in Cindai Alus Village is dominated by food consumption, with an average monthly expenditure of IDR 2,768,071. Food accounts for 50.28%, followed by cigarettes and recreation at 25.41%, education at 5.42%, and health at 2.49%. The respondents’ income is derived from primary and additional occupations; however, the average income has not fully reflected a decent level of welfare. The regression results produce the equation Y = -46,994.80 + 0.856X1 + 16,970.54X2 + 44,210.31X3 + 2,729.74X4 + e, with an R-squared value of 0.775, indicating that income, number of dependents, number of school-age children, and age explain 77.5% of the variation in household expenditure. Partially, income has a positive and highly significant effect on expenditure (t = 13.817; Sig. = 0.000). The number of school-age children also has a positive and significant effect (t = 2.086; Sig. = 0.040). Meanwhile, number of dependents (t = 0.841; Sig. = 0.403) and age (t = 1.094; Sig. = 0.277) do not have a significant effect on household expenditure.
